I came to Birmingham to study Biology at university. I got stuck into serving in the church from day one.
After graduating I took a volunteer gap year with the church where I worked with various kids groups. I now help run the Alpha Course and lead a Life Group. I'm passionate about seeing peoples' lives transformed by the love of God - and Churchcentral has certainly helped me live this out.
Being in Godly community is one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever known. It's like being knitted into the family quilt, bearing many "patterns" but yet one family. Churchcentral has been my family for the past two years. There is incredible beauty when we as a church celebrate and cry with one another in the happiest and toughest of times. Such community encourages and supports people to go the distance with God. I want my family to go that distance. Moulding community is one of my passions and part of the reason I serve on the Internationals' Team is to welcome people from other cultures into our family.
When we moved to Birmingham from Harare, Zimbabwe, the loving welcome we received at Churchcentral made us feel at home. This warmth extended beyond the Sunday church service, as we were invited into homes and quickly made friends who helped us move furniture and a whole garden shed! We were particularly touched by the love and generosity of our Life Goup, who diligently made meals for us to help us cope with the birth of our daughter.
I was really encouraged by what happens in Kidzcentral. Our 5yr old son is blossoming through this interaction with the leaders and also other children. I'm also very excited to have joined the Totzcentral team, where the younger children enjoy fun, stories and craft. God has a wonderful knack of timing things to perfection. My husband and I are both eager to see God work powerfully in Birmingham and the Black Country, so it was wonderful that God led us to Churchcentral. What has really impressed us about the church is the passion for worship and the enthusiasm and vision of the leadership to see Jesus become the most talked-about person in town!
We joined Churchcentral two and a half great years ago and have not looked back! We were determined to find a church that was founded in the word of God. I believe God is alive and relevant to my life today so was looking for a genuine church to reflect that. For me, coming to Churchcentral was like coming home. We have loved getting involved and together with my wife Zoe we are now looking to help pioneer the new site in the north of the city. Welcome to Churchcentral!
Living in cosmopolitan Birmingham, and being part of Churchcentral is a great experience! We have been able to enjoy a rich and diverse church family life, as well as finding openings to fulfil our particular interest in cross cultural work, both at home within the church family, and abroad within our wider church family.
