We know that moving and re-settling can bring various challenges and have set up a ministry called Relocate to help. We can help you find estate agents, accommodation, schools and put you in touch with other agencies that can give valuable information and great practical advice to make your move as smooth as possible.
John & Mollie's Story
Move to Birmingham? Never! That was our reaction when it was first suggested that we move from Kent to the Midlands. We were real southerners, recently retired and very comfortable where we were, living near the family. However God had other ideas! Slowly all our fears and apprehensions dissolved until today we are enjoying the challenge of living in a multicultural city in the heart of the country, yet so near to some beautiful countryside.
Right from the start, the church rallied round and helped us in this transition. When we were considering moving, someone took us on a tour of the area, showing us the various places we could consider living in. People put us up for ‘look and see’ visits, meals were provided and every help offered to make sure we were made comfortable in the transition stage. Someone even went to look around a possible house for us, to save us a 360 mile round trip (It was the house we finally chose!).
On moving day, we were invited to stay with someone nearby for the night, while we waited for our furniture to be delivered the next day. Meals were made for us for over the weekend and much help was offered and given when needed. By the time we had unpacked, we already felt we knew quite a few people and didn’t feel so much like strangers in this new area.
We are really grateful to the leadership and members of Churchcentral, who faithfully helped us in our decisions and settling, making what could have been a lonely and difficult transition into a happy experience.
